Celebration of 150 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

India’s 3rd national festival, Gandhi Jayanti, was celebrated at Divine international girls school to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the father of our nation- Mahatama Gandhi. Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at DIGS with a great zeal, enthusiasm and patriotism. The programme began with a special tribute to Gandhiji. Principal Mrs. Dr. Anshu Singh delivered the motivational and encouraging speech to the students. During the programme students shared the anecdotes from Gandhiji’s life which were inspirable to all and encouraged to think about the simple livings of Gandhiji. Faculties with true sprits came forward to carry out certain interesting activities for the children.The teachers told the children about the dandi march and about the swadeshi movement, about wearing homespun cotton clothes, and about how he stressed on leading a simple but noble life. The tiny tots came dressed in khadi and cotton kurta pyjamas as a mark of bapu and the nation. The children were given a taste of cooperation and a sense of involvement when they enacted the Dandi March  conducted within the school campus.Following the principles of Gandhiji a “Swachh Bhavan” campaign was organized by the students,  who cleaned the campus and the surrounding, spreading the message of maintaining a clean environment, to all around.  The programme was concluded with National anthem. Thus the children of DIGS were given a deep insight into the life and times of Mahatama Gandhi and encouraged to think about the sacrifice of our freedom fighters, analyze the importance and understand the value of freedom, through the day’s activities.
